The expansion of tourism relations and increase of direct flights was discussed at the meeting held on January 13 between the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Fuad Naghiyev, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Hungary to our country, H.E.Tamas Jojef Torman.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Agency pointed out that the strategic partnership relations between the countries are considered as a factor that will stimulate the development of tourism relations, and that the currently available direct flights are important in increasing the number of mutual visits.
H.E. Ambassador Tamas Jojef Torman, for his part, said that direct flights play a special role in tourist exchange, and for this purpose, it is important to increase the number of flights and awareness about Azerbaijan in Hungary. The ambassador also noted that the introduction of a visa-free regime for Hungarian citizens could play a significant role in increasing the number of visitors.
At the meeting, ideas were exchanged on the organization of mutual visits of tourism companies, media representatives and influencers, the holding of "Hungary and Azerbaijan Days" dedicated to the promotion of the culture of both countries, and the preparation of a joint action plan for mutual promotion.
Within the framework of the meeting, Fuad Naghiyev emphasized the attention paid to tourism at the state level in Azerbaijan in recent years and noted that multi-directional projects and concept documents have been prepared for the effective use of the tourism potential of the lands liberated from occupation.

At the abovementioned meeting, Florian Sengstschmid stated the effective operation of the Abu Dhabi-Baku route of the airline "Wizz Air" and its contribution to the tourism flow from the UAE, along with the traditional markets, the importance of the Middle East, Pakistan, and Indian markets for Azerbaijan, as well as the marketing activities conducted in Poland and German-speaking countries in Europe, and the intensification of relations with Japan and Korea in this direction in recent years. He expressed confidence that the flights of “Wizz Air” to Baku from target countries will boost the number of tourists.
In turn, it was stated that the ultra-low-cost company represented by Owain Jones, the Executive Vice President of “Wizz Air”, aims to attract more people to travel, and the Abu Dhabi-Baku flight shows 100% occupancy in most cases, and the Budapest-Baku flight shows 70% occupancy. Owain Jones pointed out that they are interested in the implementation of flights to the airports located in the regions of Azerbaijan in the future.
